☀️ Friday Forecast: Sunshine, Sandpaper, and Sorting Out the Bert Workshop

It’s Friday. The sun is shining.
And I’m rolling up my sleeves to tackle a long-overdue project…

🎯 Organising the Bert workshop.

For anyone new here, “the workshop” is actually our garage, a magical, muddled space where Andy brings the Berts to life. It’s crammed with treasures (Andy says “useful things”) collected over decades: Cold War cameras, biscuit tins, helicopter parts, vintage lamp fittings, old toys, copper wire, clock springs, spanners, wheels… and mystery objects no one remembers picking up.

It’s not just chaos. It’s a creative cave of wonders.
But let’s be honest, it’s also a health and safety risk with sentimental value.

🟨 The Great Drawer Upgrade – Bert Style

This week, we rescued some second-hand wooden drawers.
Sturdy, full of character… and painted a rather bold shade of purple. Not quite the Weebert vibe.

So out came the sandpaper. The handles came off. And today’s job?
A fresh coat of paint, in yellow and black, of course. The official colours of Weebert’s World.
Bright. Bold. Bert-ish.

Once they’re painted and waxed, we’ll be adding shiny label holders (yes, actual labels!) and finally giving all the tiny parts and robot limbs a proper home.

🗂️ The (Ambitious) Plan

📷 One drawer for camera bits

🛞 One for tiny wheels

🕰️ One for old clock parts

⚡️ One for copper wire

🤖 One for “things Andy insists we’ll need one day” (that might require three drawers)

Will it be perfect? Absolutely not.
Will it help us find the eyes, elbows and exhaust pipes more easily? Hopefully.

💡 What’s the Point?

Here’s the truth: we all have our chaos corners.

Maybe it’s a garage.
Maybe it’s a junk drawer, a half-started notebook, a Google Drive folder called “Misc”.
The place where good intentions live… and small things disappear forever.

But those spaces aren’t failures. They’re potential.
And sometimes, clearing them out isn’t about getting rid, it’s about making room for what’s next.

As the brilliant Stacey Solomon says:

“Organising your home isn’t about perfection. It’s about creating a space that feels good for you.”

We couldn’t agree more. Especially when that space smells faintly of wax, coffee, and WD-40.

✨ The Bigger Picture

This blog isn’t just about drawers or paint.

It’s about the behind-the-scenes work of creativity.
The sanding, the sorting, the “why did we keep this?”
It’s about setting yourself up to create something brilliant, even if no one ever sees that part.

It’s also where Andy and I laugh, plan, and argue about the correct drawer for tiny springs.
Where Ginge the chicken wanders in like she owns the place.
And where future Berts begin.

📩 What’s Your Chaos Corner?

Do you have a workshop, a cupboard, a collection of beautiful bits you’re not quite sure what to do with?

What would happen if you gave it an hour, a playlist, and a coat of Bert-yellow?

Whether you’re sorting out scrap, painting drawers, or just making a little space for inspiration, I’m cheering you on.

Because creativity doesn’t come from perfection.
It comes from purple drawers, yellow paint, and a bit of heart.

Love,
Lotty x (& Andy, who’s currently knee-deep in robot legs and loving every minute)
