Bank Holiday Sunshine, Family, and Why Every Moment Counts

Today the paddling pool is out in the garden. The sun is blazing, 29 degrees,  and we’ve filled the garden with laughter, splashes, and the kind of happiness that only comes when different generations gather together. Our eldest son and daughter-in-law are here, two of our granddaughters are running in and out of the water, and my mum, at 83, is sitting with us enjoying the sunshine.

It’s one of those ordinary days that feels extraordinary. Simple, precious, and fleeting.

At 61, I’ve learned that every moment counts. Some moments are big,  the milestones, the breakthroughs, the pitch meetings. Others are small,  not crying over the cake that ended up on the floor, (see my Instagram post from yesterday!) a splash in the paddling pool, or a quiet cuppa with Mum. But together, they shape a life. And when you’re building a business like ours, they’re also the fuel that keeps the fire lit.

Why Every Moment Counts in Life and Business

Weebert’s World is our dream. It started from a tiny scrap-built robot,  no bigger than a can of beans, and has grown into a family-first brand with two strands:

  • Unique scrap-robot sculptures for adults – works of art made by Andy from aviation scrap, vintage objects, and found treasures.

  • Children’s stories and stop-motion animation inspired by those sculptures – playful, imaginative tales that spark curiosity and give children permission to explore and create.

It’s a brand that crosses generations, and that feels fitting because our own family is at the heart of it.

When you’re building something from scratch in your 60s, you quickly realise that it’s not just about the big wins. Every little step,  from designing a new Bert sculpture to drafting a story at the kitchen table,  matters. The little things build into the big things, and both are worth celebrating.

Never Too Late

People sometimes ask us why we’re doing this now, instead of slowing down. The truth is, it’s never too late to start.

Colonel Sanders didn’t start Kentucky Fried Chicken until he was 65. His later years became the most exciting chapter of his life. Closer to home, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, The Black Farmer. He built his brand not just on food, but on family, values, and community,  and that inspires us. To know that some of Andy’s sculptures now sit in his White City store means the world.

These stories remind us that age is not a barrier. If anything, our age is our strength. We bring the wisdom, the resilience, and the lived experience of years,  along with a deep understanding of what really matters.

The Family Thread

When I watch my granddaughters squealing in the paddling pool and my mum smiling in the sunshine, it strikes me that this is exactly what Weebert’s World is about.

It’s not just about the sculptures, robots and stories. It’s about connection. About the magic that happens when adults and children find something they can enjoy together. Andy’s sculptures spark conversation with grown-ups. The children’s stories spark wonder in little ones. And somewhere in the middle, Weebert’s World becomes a space where generations meet through imagination.

That’s why I believe our brand resonates. Because it isn’t just about entertainment or art,  it’s about family, and the power of moments that make you smile.

Building for the Future

As we push forward with our dream of a stop-motion animation series for children, we hold onto this truth: every moment counts. The late-night brainstorming sessions, the mornings in the workshop, the laughter over lunch, and the playtime in the paddling pool, it all adds up.

We want Weebert’s World to inspire children to play, imagine, and create, and to remind adults that they still have permission to do the same. Because whether you’re five, fifty-five, or eighty-three, there’s joy to be found in imagination.

And when I sit back in the sunshine with wet footprints on the patio and the smell of sun cream in the air, I know this for certain: these are the moments that will mean the most.

💛 Every moment counts. Cherish the ones that make you smile.
