Building a Dream (and Still Doing the Dishes)

Some mornings I wake up full of doubt.

The to-do list is long, the bank balance is low, and the only thing flowing freely is the coffee. It’s hard. The kind of hard that sits quietly in your chest while you wash the dishes and wonder if you’re completely mad to be chasing this dream.

But then I remember what I’m building. And why.

I’m Lotty—grandma, first-time entrepreneur, children’s author, woman with a head full of stories and a heart full of scrap-built robots. I’m not perfect, I’m not polished, and I definitely don’t have it all figured out. But I believe—truly—that Weebert’s World belongs on children’s TV. I believe it can make a difference. And that belief gets me through the wobbly mornings.

So I keep going. I open the laptop. I scribble down new ideas. I reply to emails. I wrangle storyboards while the washing machine whirrs away. I plan another stop-motion. I celebrate the little wins (like finding a decent pen that actually works). And I keep taking small steps—even when they feel like shuffles.

Weebert is made from an old Cold War spy camera and bits of clock. He’s not shiny. He wasn’t made in a lab. He’s a little rough around the edges. Just like me. And just like this dream.

So if you’re working on something and wondering if it’s ever going to work—please know this: the doubt doesn’t mean it’s not worth it. It just means you care. And caring is the start of everything good.

Let’s keep going, even when it’s slow. Especially when it’s slow.

Lotty x
