Forget Botox. I’ve discovered a cheaper, faster alternative!

Forget Botox. I’ve discovered a cheaper, faster alternative: …… childlike awe.

And no, I’m not joking.

There’s something I’ve observed so many times now that I can no longer pretend it’s accidental. Whenever adults come face-to-face with the Berts, our tiny scrap-built robots,  something inside them shifts.

It doesn’t matter who they are, what kind of day they’ve had, or how stressed they feel.
The reaction is always the same:

A pause.
A softening.
A spark.

A spark of awe, the kind we used to feel without effort when we were children.

And as soon as that spark appears, their whole expression changes. Their face relaxes, their eyes warm, their shoulders drop, and something in them brightens.

And yes… they look younger.

But here’s the real magic: they don’t just look younger, they think younger

Their minds open.
Their creativity wakes up.
Their ideas loosen.

This isn’t mystical, it’s biological. Awe lowers cortisol, and cortisol is the enemy of creative thinking. High cortisol keeps us in rigid, survival-mode thinking. Low cortisol lets the mind wander, play, innovate.

At 62, I’m extremely interested in anything that makes me feel brighter, younger, or even slightly more inventive, and I’ve learnt that play does it faster than any cream.

Adults don’t stop being creative; they just stop giving themselves permission to play

Life becomes serious.
We become sensible.
Responsibilities pile up.
And imagination gets squeezed into smaller and smaller corners.

But when adults meet the Berts, something in them remembers.

Not intellectually, emotionally.

They remember what awe feels like.
They remember curiosity.
They remember the joy of making sense of the world without rushing.

And in that moment, their whole mind opens.

This isn’t about being childish,  it’s about freeing your mind

Every time awe returns, I see:

• creativity spark
• problems reframe
• ideas shift
• solutions appear
• and faces soften

It’s extraordinary. And it’s universal.

A spark for anyone who needs it

If your mind feels tight today,  like it’s been stuck in the same loop, consider this your permission slip.

Play isn’t irresponsible.
It isn’t unproductive.
It isn’t silly.

It’s necessary.

And if you need a gentle nudge, we’ve put free downloads and stories on our website,  small sparks to wake up your mind.

Awe really is the cheaper, faster alternative to Botox.
And goodness… it works.

with love
