Free Children’s Christmas Story: How The Berts Saved Christmas
There is something special about December.
The lights, the rituals, the familiar songs, the smell of cinnamon, the early evenings, everything slows us down just enough for memories to surface.
And for me, one memory always returns.
When our children were small and Andy was away on tour, evenings could feel very long. I would gather our two eldest on the sofa, wrap a blanket around the three of us, and read a story while the house hummed with a quiet that felt far too big for us.
Those ten minutes became our safe place.
Our little pocket of calm.
A moment that belonged entirely to us.
Years later, those are the moments the children remember the most.
Not the toys.
Not the decorations.
Just the closeness.
Just the story.
It’s that feeling, that sense of warmth and togetherness, that inspired me to create How The Berts Saved Christmas, a brand-new children’s Christmas story we are making available for free on our Weebert’s World website.
A simple gift.
A shared moment.
Something families can enjoy without thinking about cost, which, for many, matters more than ever.
Why we wanted this story to be free
We know what it is to navigate a Christmas with very little money.
We know what it is to choose small rituals over big presents.
And we know that imagination doesn’t need to cost anything.
Some of the most meaningful moments in childhood come from things that are free:
✨ A bedtime story
✨ A shared giggle
✨ A cosy ten minutes when the world feels gentle
✨ A child imagining themselves inside a story
Stories shape children’s creativity, their confidence, their early STEM thinking, their ability to make sense of feelings, all without being “lessons.”
That’s why this one is free.
Because every child deserves a bit of Christmas magic, regardless of what’s in the bank account.
What the story offers children
Without giving away the plot, How The Berts Saved Christmas is a gentle, heartwarming festive tale about teamwork, imagination and doing what you can with what you have.
Children will meet Weebert, Tweebert, Albert, Wheelybert, Hubert, Egbert, the Bakerbert twins, Justbert and Gerbert, each bringing their own talent to help save the day.
The message is simple:
Everyone has something to offer.
Every contribution matters.
And together, we can achieve something magical.
It’s a message children absorb naturally, just by enjoying the story.
It also gently encourages:
• imaginative play
• problem-solving
• early engineering thinking
• kindness and empathy
• working together for the common good
This is storytelling that supports children’s development without ever feeling educational.
A moment of connection in a busy season
We live in a world that’s louder, faster and busier than ever, especially at Christmas.
Screens compete for attention.
To-do lists grow.
Routines disappear.
And children feel that shift just as much as adults do.
A story offers a pause.
A breath.
A way to slow down the noise and step into a world where tiny scrap-built robots work together to save Christmas, a world filled with warmth, laughter and possibility.
And when parents, grandparents, carers or teachers read the story with a child, something special happens:
You both enter that world together.
That’s the power of children’s storytelling.
It reconnects us, sometimes when we need it most.
Free to read. Free to download.

From our family to yours
Weebert’s World has always been built on heart, on scrap-built robots, storytelling, and the belief that imagination belongs to everyone.
This Christmas, we simply want to share that with you.
Wishing you warmth, magic and moments of connection this December,
with love
Lotty & Andy xx
