From Boredom to Wonder: Why Weebert’s World Exists
The secret to raising tomorrow’s innovators?
👉 Let them be bored.
The Gift of Boredom
One afternoon, my grandson slumped at the kitchen table and sighed: “I’m bored.”
That single phrase used to make me feel guilty as a parent. It still does as a grandparent. We think boredom means we’re not doing enough. That we should rush to fill the gap with toys, screens, or endless activities.
But this time, I didn’t.
And in that pause, Barbara the flying sheep was born. 🐑✨
A story came alive, sparked by nothing more than an empty moment. That was the beginning of Weebert’s World.
From Scraps to Stories
Weebert himself is built from scraps, a tiny vintage camera, opera glasses, copper wire. He’s not shiny or perfect, but children don’t see leftovers. They see a friend, an adventure, and a reminder that ordinary things can be extraordinary.
It’s the same lesson as our family tradition of the dedederrr.
Every Christmas, a cardboard roll from the wrapping paper was wrapped under the tree. The children would run around blowing into it like a trumpet, shouting “dedederrr!” until the whole house rang with laughter.
It cost nothing. But it gave us everything. Memories. Joy. Imagination.
That’s what Weebert’s World is about. Protecting imagination, in children, in families, in communities.
Why Now Matters
This week’s news that Bagpuss is returning feels like a nudge from the universe. Bagpuss comforted generations with slow, gentle storytelling. His revival proves what we’ve always believed: families are ready again for stories that take their time, that invite imagination instead of replacing it.
We’ve always described Weebert’s World as “Bagpuss meets Wallace & Gromit.”
Because it is. Gentle, nostalgic storytelling with a playful spark. Stop-motion magic made from scraps.
In a world that’s too fast, too noisy, too much, children don’t need more of the same. They need space. They need stories that reassure them. They need guides like Weebert.
A Community of Imagination
Weebert’s World isn’t just a stop-motion dream. It’s a growing community:
✨ Scrap-built robots inspiring children in schools.
✨ Gentle stories giving families a reason to slow down together.
✨ A reminder that imagination isn’t a luxury … it’s essential.
We believe tomorrow’s innovators won’t come from children who had everything handed to them. They’ll come from children who learned to make something out of nothing.
An Invitation
So that’s why Weebert’s World exists.
To give children permission to play, explore, imagine, and create.
To reassure parents and grandparents that love and space are already enough.
To carry forward the tradition of gentle storytelling into a new generation.
✨ If this resonates with you, join us. Follow along, share your own “dedederrr” stories, and help us build a world where imagination is protected, celebrated, and passed on.
Because every child is the hero of their story. And Weebert is here to guide them.
with love
