From Mental Health to Joyful Art: Andy’s Bert Sculptures Take Centre Stage
There’s a saying that art can heal. And for Andy, that’s been true in more ways than one. What began as a way for Andy to manage his mental health, by turning scrap materials into art, has blossomed into something much bigger. It’s about creating, sharing, and bringing joy to others.
That journey took a wonderful turn recently when Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, The Black Farmer, shared his excitement about meeting Wilbert, the Bert sculpture Andy created just for him. The joy Wilfred showed when he saw Wilbert for the first time was contagious, and it truly warmed our hearts to see that moment shared on social media. Wilfred’s reaction was ‘seriously’ joyful, a reminder of how art, even when made from scraps, can bring so much happiness.
But Wilfred isn’t the only one who could receive a one-of-a-kind sculpture from Andy. Recently, Andy also created a unique Bert sculpture for Jeremy Vine, and we’re excited to see what happens next. If anyone knows Jeremy, we’d love your help in connecting him to see Andy’s creation, a piece of art that represents both resilience and creativity.
This brings us to another exciting development: you can now find these one-of-a-kind Bert sculptures at The Black Farmer’s White City store. These are more than just sculptures; they’re pieces of joy, each telling its own story. And while the Berts can be quirky and humorous, they also hold deeper meanings, pieces of art made from scrap, yet full of life.
What started in our kitchen and workshop here in Shropshire, with a bit of metal, copper wire, and some old cameras, has grown into something so much bigger than we ever imagined. Each Bert Andy creates is a labour of love, not just for the process of making but for the personal connection art can foster.
The sculptures have become a bridge for sharing Andy’s journey, from scrap to sculpture, from art for mental health to art for joy. They’re a testament to the power of creativity, and how it can transform the hardest moments into something beautiful.
But this is just the beginning. Through Weebert’s World and the sculptures, we’re building a space where imagination and creativity thrive. And while the Berts may be for adults, the heart of the brand remains focused on inspiring children. Just like the stories we tell through Weebert, each sculpture sparks a story of its own.
We’re so grateful to have the opportunity to share Andy’s art with others. Every Bert has a life, a story, and a personality. Some are quirky, some are nostalgic, but all are unique, just like the people who take them home.
So, if you’re in the White City area, head over to The Black Farmer’s store and check out the Bert sculptures for yourself. They’re all available to buy, and each one is truly one-of-a-kind.
And to everyone who’s supported us so far, thank you. Whether you’ve followed our journey on social media, bought a sculpture, or simply shared our story, you’re part of something incredible. We’re building this dream together, one Bert at a time.
👉 Remember, if you know Jeremy Vine, we’d love for him to see the sculpture Andy made for him.
with love
