From Scrap Robots to Stop-Motion Magic: Inside the Making of Weebert’s World

From Scrap Robots to Stop-Motion Magic: Inside the Making of Weebert’s World

There’s a quote I read this week that stopped me in my tracks:

“If you lack the connections, be courageous enough to reach out and build them.”  James Clear

It felt like it was written just for me.

Because if you’ve been following our journey, you’ll know that Weebert’s World didn’t begin in a boardroom or a studio. It began on our kitchen table,  with a tiny robot made from scrap, a story I wrote on a quiet afternoon, and two people in their sixties daring to dream that something beautiful could grow from it.

Last night, Andy and I joined an X-Forces Enterprise meeting about seeking investment. Listening to Simon Bloomhill share his insights reminded me that courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it’s the quiet act of showing up again, even when you’re not sure who’s listening.

Then this morning, I saw a post from FounderCatalyst shared by angel investor Angelos Pampos, and it felt as though the universe had answered the question I’d whispered into the darkness at 3am:
“Where can I find the right investor for Weebert’s World?”

So, I decided to stop wondering and start reaching.

The courage to build something from nothing

We don’t come from money or media circles. Andy spent 27 years in the Army and 16 in civil aviation. I spent 16 years in the public sector. We’re not from the “old boy” network. We’re just two ordinary people who believe that imagination still matters, perhaps now more than ever.

And that’s the heart of Weebert’s World: imagination, kindness, and possibility.

It’s a children’s brand built around a stop-motion TV series where robots made from scrap remind children (and grown-ups) that even broken things can have a second life. But it’s also much more than a TV idea.

We’re building a whole world.

A world where families create together.
Where children learn that curiosity is powerful.
Where play is permission, not a distraction.

We dream of using recycled plastics in our Build-your-own-Bert workbench and the fabrics for our cuddly Berts, we’re showing children that sustainability can be joyful, not preachy,  and that creativity isn’t something you buy; it’s something you grow.

When imagination becomes a bridge

This week reminded me that courage and creativity are two sides of the same coin.

Courage says, I’ll try even though I don’t have all the answers.
Creativity says, I’ll find a way.

Together, they build bridges, between people, ideas, and generations.

That’s what we’re doing through Weebert’s World. We’re connecting childhood wonder with real-world impact. We’re inspiring children into STEM without them even realising it, because it’s wrapped in stories, laughter, and play. And we’re inviting families, teachers, and even investors to be part of something that feels good, does good, and lasts.

We’ve done the groundwork: SEIS advance assurance in place ✅, a strong business plan, a creative brand with heart, and a story that’s already connecting with children and grown-ups alike.

But we’re still at that precious early stage,  where belief is everything.

So if you’ve ever found yourself feeling a bit behind, wishing for more connections, or wondering if you’re too late to start again… you’re not.

If you’ve ever built something from nothing, a family, a business, a dream,  you’ll understand exactly what we’re doing here.

Why this matters for you

Because Weebert’s World isn’t really about us. It’s about you.

It’s about parents and grandparents who want to give their children something real,  a reminder that creativity doesn’t come from a screen, but from the space between curiosity and courage.

It’s about the teachers and engineers and storytellers who know that imagination is the first step to innovation.

And it’s about the investors who understand that when you build with heart, purpose follows naturally.

We’re building Weebert’s World one spark of imagination at a time,  and if it resonates with you, welcome. You’re already part of it. 💛

with love
