Meet Reberto … The Bert Who Loves to Recycle
Would you believe the newest Bert in Weebert’s World started life as a 1950s Hoover?
Meet Reberto, the recycling Bert who’s here to encourage and inspire everyone (big and small) to recycle, reuse, and reimagine what’s possible.
Reberto began, as all Berts do, as a piece of forgotten scrap. A dusty old vacuum cleaner that had worked hard in its day, built to last, full of charm, and far too beautiful to be thrown away. Andy spotted it straight away: the chrome, the curves, the potential. And with a little imagination (and a lot of tinkering), Reberto came to life.
That’s what Weebert’s World is all about, taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary.
Turning Scrap into Story
Every Bert begins life as something forgotten. Weebert himself was made from a tiny vintage camera, a pair of opera glasses, and some tangled copper wire. Another Bert carries an 3 speed umbrella made from a car boot sale find.
Each one is a reminder that scrap isn’t rubbish, it’s possibility.
Children understand that instinctively. A cardboard box becomes a rocket ship, a stick becomes a magic wand, and a handful of buttons can become the start of a robot.
The problem is that somewhere along the way, the world tells them to “be sensible,” to put away play, to grow up.
But imagination is not something we outgrow. It’s something we grow with.
Art Is Not About Perfection
When Andy is building a Bert, there are no neat instructions, no straight lines, no guarantee of symmetry. And that’s exactly what makes each one so magical.
Art isn’t about perfection, it’s about joy.
It’s the spark that comes when a child proudly shows you the robot they’ve built from cereal boxes and sticky tape. It’s the moment you pick up a pen and doodle for no reason other than it feels good.
That joy is worth celebrating, whether you’re five years old or sixty-five.
Because creativity isn’t about getting it “right.” It’s about having the courage to make something at all.
Why Reberto Matters
Reberto’s message is simple: recycling isn’t just about sorting your bins. It’s about seeing value where others see waste.
He reminds us that creativity and sustainability go hand in hand. When we reuse, repurpose, and reinvent, we protect our planet and spark new ideas.
That’s what makes Reberto special. He’s a walking, whirring reminder that imagination never stops, and that sometimes, the most ordinary things just need a second chance to shine.
And yes, I’m already imagining the stories where Weebert and Reberto have adventures together! I can see them now, tinkering away in the workshop, turning scrap into inventions and spreading a little imagination wherever they go.
A Cosy World That Crosses Generations
Weebert’s World isn’t glossy perfection. It’s handmade, warm, and a little bit quirky.
The stories unfold around our cottage, kitchen, and garden. The Berts are made from old parts that once had a different purpose. The stop motion animation will bring them to life in a style that feels nostalgic, comforting, and timeless, a bit like Bagpuss meets Wallace & Gromit.
Children see robots and adventure. Adults see creativity, sustainability, and maybe even a bit of childhood wonder returning.
That’s why our dream is bigger than just a TV show. It’s about building a brand that gives families permission to imagine together, through stories, scrap-robot sculptures, books, toys, and even STEM activities that start right at the kitchen table.
The Weebert’s World Recycling Pledge
Reberto has inspired us to start something simple but powerful … a Weebert’s World Pledge.
We’re inviting everyone … children, families, schools, workplaces … to recycle one more thing each week.
It doesn’t have to be grand or complicated. Maybe it’s reusing a jar instead of throwing it away. Maybe it’s turning an old tin into a pencil holder, or saving a box for a creative project instead of the recycling bin.
Small changes make a big difference, especially when they come from imagination.
By recycling one more thing each week, we’re not just cutting down waste, we’re sparking creativity, caring for our planet, and celebrating the joy of making something new from something old.
So let’s make Reberto proud.
The Joy of Creating
Reberto is proof that art doesn’t need polish to have purpose. The beauty lies in the process, in the laughter, the mess, the mistakes, and the spark of pride when you step back and see what you’ve made.
So as you head into the weekend, here’s my gentle encouragement: don’t chase perfection. Celebrate the joy of creating, and join us in our pledge to recycle one more thing each week.
Because the truth is, imagination never stops.
And neither do the Berts.
with love
