People Don’t Believe Me When I Tell Them… We’re Building a Children’s Brand From Scrap

People don’t believe me when I tell them we’re building a children’s brand from scrap.

Not scrap ideas. Not scrap stories.
Real, actual scrap.

Bits of Cold War spy cameras, opera glasses, old clock parts, RC engines, sewing machine wheels, copper wire, V-brakes from bikes, and the odd aircraft part rescued from a hangar. That kind of scrap.

It might sound far-fetched, and sometimes even I have to laugh, but it’s all real. And at the heart of it all is Weebert, the tiniest robot you ever did see, no bigger than a can of beans, made with Andy’s hands and born from a spark of imagination during a tough time in our lives.

From scrap to storytelling

We never set out to build a children’s brand. We just needed to create something. Andy, my husband, a quiet, brilliant maker, began building robot characters to help with his mental health after decades in the army and civil aviation. What started as sculpture soon turned into something much more.

One day he made a tiny robot. I looked at him and said, “That little one looks like he has something to say.” And so I wrote a story. Then another. And before long, we were sitting on a world,  Weebert’s World … filled with characters made from scrap and stories full of heart.

It’s a world where children are free to play, imagine, and create. A place where old parts get new purpose. A brand rooted in kindness, curiosity, and quiet wonder.

A children’s brand built on imagination, not hype

In a world where children’s content is often loud, plastic, and overpackaged, we wanted to offer something different. Something handmade. Something that slows things down and makes space for a child’s imagination to take the lead.

Weebert’s World is made up of handcrafted robots (we call them The Berts), stories full of mischief and warmth, and a spirit of gentle adventure. Through books, behind-the-scenes stories, school visits, and animations-in-the-making, we want children to see that you don’t need perfection to make something beautiful,  just imagination, a bit of scrap, and a story to tell.

It’s not about high-tech, fast-paced flash. It’s about slow storytelling and meaningful play. And most of all, it’s about connection,  between children and their grown-ups, between stories and real-life creativity, and between old objects and new ideas.

Why it matters

We believe children need stories that open doors,  not shut them. That spark curiosity instead of just providing answers. That make space for silliness, tinkering, and wonder.

And we’ve seen it happen. We’ve watched children light up when they meet the Berts and realise they’re made from “rubbish.” We’ve seen their ideas take off, from building their own robots to dreaming up new adventures for Weebert and his friends.

We’ve met teachers who tell us they’ve never seen STEM delivered in such a creative, accessible way. And we’ve heard from parents and grandparents who feel like they’re reconnecting with their own childhoods through the world we’re building.

Because Weebert’s World isn’t just for kids. It’s for everyone who believes imagination still matters.

You’re part of this dream

This dream we’re building,  slowly, lovingly, and often with our hands full of copper wire,  isn’t just ours. It belongs to everyone who’s followed us, supported us, shared our stories, or said “This is different… and special.”

You’re part of the Weebert’s World community.
And this community? It’s full of people who believe, just like we do, that small things can spark big ideas. That creativity comes from care. That scrap has value. And that children deserve stories that make space for them to be exactly who they are.

We’re so glad you’re here with us.

Let’s keep building something beautiful — one robot, one story, one spark at a time.

with love
