Scrap Robots, Creative Retail and the Magic of Hand Made Storytelling

Scrap Robots, Creative Retail and the Magic of Hand Made Storytelling

We never expected to be packing up a box of robot sculptures to take to London.
But then again, we never expected any of this.

On 31st July, we’ll be meeting Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones, The Black Farmer,  to show him a selection of our scrap-built Berts. He’s deciding whether he’d like to stock them in his White City store.

We’ll be taking Schubert, Norbert, Pyebert, and Teabert, each one a handmade character, built from rescued parts and bursting with personality.

But not Weebert.
Weebert is part of the story, the heart of Weebert’s World. He was never meant to be sold.
He’s not a product. He’s a spark.

The other Berts, though? They’re our way of bringing the story into the real world, and possibly into the hands of new collectors and customers, if Wilfred likes what he sees.

🔧 Not Just Products – Personal Stories Made Solid

Each Bert is one of a kind.
Built from forgotten parts,  a vintage transistor, a helicopter bracket, a watch cog, a copper coil, every sculpture is part sculpture, part soul.

They’re not made in batches.
They’re made on instinct. On memory. On quiet moments of creation in the workshop.

And when someone picks one up and says, “This one makes me smile,” we know it’s done its job.

In a world full of fast-made, trend-chasing “stuff,” these Berts offer something different, a story you can hold in your hand.

🛍️ Why White City?

Wilfred’s White City store isn’t just a shop.
It’s a space filled with meaning, British brands, bold stories, real people doing things their own way.

So when he invited us to come and show him the Berts, we felt honoured.
Because when someone like Wilfred, who’s built his own story from the ground up, sees your work and wants to know more, it’s not just a retail opportunity. It’s a moment.

We’re not a slick brand with a showroom and a strategy team.
We’re two people in our sixties, bootstrapping this dream with copper wire, a small kitchen table, and a big heart.

So to even be considered? It means a lot.

🧒 Where Do the Children’s Stories Come In?

Weebert may not be part of this particular offer, he’ll never be for sale, but he’s at the root of it all.

He’s the first Bert Andy ever made. The spark that lit the stories. The little robot who reminded us of the power of imagination.

So while Weebert stays part of the storytelling, the other Berts,  like Schubert, Pyebert, Norbert and Teabert, help extend that world.
They bring the universe of Weebert’s World into living rooms, offices, libraries, classrooms.
They make it real.

🌟 From Scrap to Shop?

We don’t know what will come of this meeting, but we know this:

Whether or not Wilfred chooses to stock the Berts in White City, the fact we’ve got this far means something.

Because when you build from scrap…
When you keep showing up with heart instead of hype…
People notice.

And sometimes, just sometimes, those people are standing in London, holding the door open to something bigger than you imagined.

with love
