We Were on Jeremy Vine’s Show… and Had No Idea! (But Wilfred the Black Farmer Saw us!)
So something rather surreal happened last week.
We were on the Jeremy Vine Show on Channel 5… and we didn’t even know it.
Truly. No idea. Not a clue.
We were featured on national TV the morning of Wednesday 16th July, and we missed it completely.
Here’s what happened.
The night before, Tuesday, we were at the Soldiering On Awards Finalist Celebration at the House of Lords. It was one of those evenings you want to bottle up forever. The people, the setting, the kindness in the room, all of it felt like a big warm “keep going.”
And then, out on the terrace overlooking the Thames, we spotted Jeremy Vine.
We went over to say hello, and to our delight, he remembered us from last year.
“Ah, it’s Weebert!” he said with a grin.
We chatted, and then, quite casually, he pulled out his phone and said, “Mind if I record a quick interview?”
We didn’t think much of it. We thought maybe he’d share a short clip online.
We definitely didn’t expect it to be aired live on his Channel 5 show the very next morning.
So when someone messaged to say, “You were just on Jeremy Vine!” we were floored.
We didn’t even know to watch. And now we can’t find the clip anywhere on catch-up. If you saw it (or recorded it!), please let us know, we’d love to see it too!
And here’s the wonderful cherry on top…
Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones – The Black Farmer, was on the show live with Jeremy, and he saw our clip.
We didn’t meet him, but he saw the Berts, heard our story, and told Jeremy he loved what we’re doing.
We couldn’t believe it when someone told us, honestly, I got a bit teary. Wilfred has built something truly powerful, and to know that he saw value in our work… well, it landed somewhere deep.
Since then, the most beautiful thing has happened: our inbox has been full of kindness.
Emails from people we’ve never met, telling us they love the Berts. That our story gave them a lift. That they believe in Weebert’s World.
And we’ve been wrapping up and posting Berts ever since, each one handmade by Andy using other people’s scrap and a lot of heart. Two are heading to Tyne and Wear, one to Kent and Another is going to a collector who said, “There’s just something about them, I had to have one.” And every single one is sent off like it’s part of our family. Because it is.
But with all the joy comes that usual mix of emotions.
Some days I’m full of belief, like anything is possible.
Other days I wobble, wondering if we’re in over our heads.
We don’t have a production team. We don’t have a marketing agency.
We’ve got two people in their 60s, a kitchen table, a little robot made from a spy camera, and a dream that just won’t go away.
But then Jeremy Vine gives us a platform.
Wilfred the Black Farmer says he loves it.
People buy Berts, share our videos, and write to say, “Keep going.”
And so we do.
If you’re reading this as someone with a creative spark or a slightly bonkers dream, I hope this reminds you that you’re not alone. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be brave enough to believe in it.
And if you’re just discovering Weebert’s World, hello and welcome!
You can explore our characters, shop the Berts, and watch our stop-motion stories at www.weebertsworld.com or find us on YouTube.
To everyone who’s cheered us on: thank you. This week has reminded us just how many people are behind Weebert, and that maybe, just maybe, we’re building something really special.
With love, disbelief, and one more hopeful search for a replay,
With love Lotty x
