This is your reminder, play is not a luxury, it’s a medicine
Wellness trends come and go.
We’ve had cold plunges, gratitude journals, adult colouring books, and about seventeen versions of “morning routines that will change your life”.
But the next wellness shift?
I believe it’s something far simpler, and far older, than any of us expected.
Creative play. For adults.
Before you imagine glitter explosions or being forced to sing Kumbaya in a circle, let me reassure you: I’m talking about small, doable, joyful moments that restore us in ways we rarely acknowledge.
The research we already know but rarely act on
When adults engage in small acts of playful creativity, doodling, crafting, making something out of scraps, the following happens:
- Cortisol lowers
- Heart rate steadies
- Problem-solving improves
- Resilience rises
- Emotional overwhelm reduces
- Imagination unlocks
What strikes me most is that companies spend thousands trying to achieve these outcomes… when a ten-minute play break could do more than a full-day workshop.
What this looks like inside Weebert’s World
Andy discovered all of this long before we had the language for it.
When he began making tiny robot sculptures from scrap, it wasn’t a hobby, it was a lifeline.
Every twist of copper wire, every old camera piece, every helicopter part he reimagined brought him back to himself.
And the transformation wasn’t just emotional. He became calmer, clearer, lighter, and it changed our home.
That little spark became Weebert’s World.
From workshop table to wellbeing
The first time I saw children sit around Andy’s workshop bench and start making their own mini-Berts, I saw something shift in the adults too.
Parents leaned in.
Grandparents smiled.
Everyone softened.
Play is contagious.
Relief is contagious.
Cortisol dropping is contagious.
The moment families start creating something together, the whole room changes.
Why this matters now
We’re living in the most overstimulated era in history.
Children have endless screens.
Adults have endless demands.
No one has enough time.
Everyone has too much noise.
And yet, when we introduce something simple, tactile, and imaginative, everything slows.
That slowness is not unproductive.
That slowness is what productivity needs.
The workplace angle
You wouldn’t believe how many leaders I’ve spoken to recently who are desperate to support their teams’ mental health but don’t know where to start.
The answer doesn’t have to be complicated.
If you can encourage moments of creativity, you encourage moments of recovery.
Play bridges gaps.
It reduces fear.
It unlocks creative problem-solving, which every organisation needs.
A small invitation to test the theory

If you’re curious about this wellness trend, start small.
Draw something.
Build something.
Make something imperfect and joyful.
Ten minutes is enough.
Because sometimes the simplest things are the most effective, and the most overlooked.
A wellness revolution isn’t coming.
It’s already here.
We just need to remember how to join it.
with love
