Want to Boost Your Child’s Brain, Confidence and Happiness… in Just 10 Minutes a Day?
Some ideas sound too good to be true. “Ten minutes of reading can boost your child’s happiness” feels like one of them. But the more I’ve read, and the more I’ve lived, the more I’ve realised it’s absolutely right.
Reading with a child is one of the simplest, strongest gifts we can give them. And it doesn’t require money, special equipment, or a perfectly calm household. All it needs is a story, a lap, and a few minutes of your time.
This week I found myself thinking a lot about those early years when Andy was away on tours. I remember evenings when the house felt far too big and the days had been far too long. But the moment I gathered the children onto the sofa with a book, everything softened. The world slowed down. Their shoulders dropped. And, if I’m honest, so did mine.
Those ten-minute storytimes were our reset button. And now, decades later, research is confirming what parents have always known in their hearts:
Reading with children truly transforms them.
According to early years studies, shared reading supports:
1. Brain development
Children who are read to frequently hear hundreds of thousands more words before they start school. It builds vocabulary, language understanding, and foundational literacy.
2. Emotional wellbeing
Stories help children understand feelings, their own and other people’s. Reading together creates safety and closeness, especially after a busy or difficult day.
3. Focus and attention
In a world full of noise, a book asks a child to slow down and follow along, building concentration in the gentlest way.
4. Creativity and imagination
This is the part that speaks most to Weebert’s World. Stories open the door to possibility. They teach children to picture things that don’t yet exist. And isn’t that where creativity begins?
5. Connection
Perhaps the most beautiful part.
Reading together builds a bond that lasts long after the book is closed. It’s not the story alone, it’s the togetherness.
And that’s why stories have become so central to our work. Weebert’s World isn’t just about robots or animation; it’s about giving children permission to play, explore, imagine and create, with the people they love.
This week, we wanted to give something back.
So we’ve made our children’s Christmas story, How The Berts Saved Christmas, completely free to download.
Simply because we know how much a shared story can mean, especially at this time of year.
The story is warm, gentle, and full of teamwork. Perfect for a bedtime, a snuggle on the sofa, or a quiet moment before the day gets busy again. If it brings a smile to a child, or gives a family ten peaceful minutes together, then it’s already done more than we ever hoped.

So tonight, if life feels a bit hectic (as it often does), grab a book, any book, and sit with your child for just ten minutes. You’ll be giving them far more than a story.
You’ll be giving them a memory.
A sense of safety.
A boost of confidence.
A calmer mind.
And a moment of magic that only the two of you will share.
And truly… that’s where the joy of childhood lives.
with love
