Weebert in Space
Inspired by Reception & Year 1 girls at Shrewsbury High School
Weebert and Tweebert, both built out of scrap,
With cogs in their chests and springs in their lap,
Played in the garden where rockets were made,
Tinkering and giggling in cool evening shade..
One starry night, they heard a loud BOOM!
A shiny space rocket lit up the gloom!
“Let’s go!” giggled Tweebert, “Let’s zoom through the stars!”
So off they whooshed—past the Moon, straight to Mars!
They spotted a car that was flying up high,
And shooting stars whizzing across the night sky.
Then came a meteor shower, zooming so fast—
They twirled and they tumbled and just whooshed past!
“Oh no!” cried out Weebert, “The Moon’s out of sight!”
They missed it completely, flew on through the night.
They landed on Mars with a bump and a roll,
Then slipped onto Mercury, down a hot hole!
“Help!” shouted Tweebert, “We’re stuck in this place!”
But Albert the Time-Bert appeared into space!
He pulled them up gently and gave them a grin—
“Let’s head for home now, your tea’s about in!”
They zoomed through the solar system so wide,
Past planets and stars, on a magical ride.
Then down came the rocket, a soft little thud,
Back to their garden with grass and some mud.
“Next time,” said Weebert, “We’ll land on the Moon!”
“With snacks,” giggled Tweebert, “And not quite so soon!”
