What can you make from scrap?
🛠️ Ever looked at a broken spoon, a bottle cap, and a mystery bit from the back of a drawer and thought…
“Could I make something special out of this?”
Well, you’re not alone—and now, we’re officially challenging you (and your kids, grandkids, students, or inner child) to join us in the Weebert’s World Scrap Art Challenge!
The trend for DIY and upcycled art is everywhere right now—and for good reason. It’s creative, it’s budget-friendly, and it’s a brilliant way to teach kids (and remind adults) that imagination is often the most powerful tool of all.
🌍 Why scrap?
Because Weebert and the whole Bert family started life from other people’s throwaways. Old clocks, Cold War spy cameras, vintage wire, helicopter parts… if it’s got a story and a bit of rust, it’s probably part of a Bert.
We want to share that spirit of reuse and creativity—so here’s your mission:
🎯 The Challenge:
Create your own mini-Bert (or a robot friend!) using only scrap, recycling, or bits you’ve found lying around.
-
No new materials.
-
No pressure.
-
Just pure, joyful imagination.
📸 Share your creation with us on Instagram or Facebook—tag @weebertsworld and use #BertBuildChallenge so we can see it!
🎉 We’ll be sharing our favourites (with permission) and giving shout-outs to the most creative, wobbly, colourful, or just plain bonkers Berts we see.
Need inspiration?
🛠 Head over to our YouTube channel and our website https://www.weebertsworld.com Andy’s incredible Bert builds—including Digbert, Egbert and of course, Weebert himself.
Whether you’re five or sixty-five, this challenge is about celebrating imagination, sustainability, and the joy of making something out of nothing.
