What Sparks Children’s Creativity Today? The Dream of Weebert’s World
What sparks a child’s imagination today? Is it a story at bedtime, a recipe baked together, an afternoon digging in the garden, or just time outdoors with animals?
That’s the question behind our dream for Weebert’s World.
Weebert is our little scrap-built robot, made from a vintage camera, opera glasses, and copper wire. He’s no bigger than a can of beans, but from him came a spark. And that spark has grown into our vision for a stop motion children’s TV series filmed in a real cottage and workshop, where everyday life becomes extraordinary.
The format blends handcrafted stop motion adventures with “Weebert Power” a segment where children are encouraged to take the story further. In our vision, they don’t just watch Weebert and the Berts, they join in: making in the workshop, baking in the kitchen with the Bakerberts, planting in the garden with Digbert, or caring for animals with Egbert and the chickens.
It’s not passive viewing. It’s imagination in action.
We want Weebert’s World to give children permission to play, to explore, and to see that the ordinary world around them is full of possibilities. Because at its heart, that’s what creativity really is, turning what you already have into something extraordinary.
The series isn’t in production yet, but it’s what Andy and I are working towards every single day. Each sculpture Andy builds, each story I write, is one more step.
✨ Weebert Power: Turning screen time into imagination time. ✨
And so, I return to the question. If stories and programmes shaped us as children, what will inspire children today?
👉 I’d love to know your thoughts. What do you think sparks children’s creativity most?
