What Would You Tell Your 19-Year-Old Self?

What would you tell your 19-year-old self?

It’s such a powerful question, isn’t it?
A few words whispered back across time could change everything,  if only we’d heard them then.

If I could sit face to face with my 19-year-old self, here’s what I would say:
“You don’t have to have it all figured out. It’s okay to start messy. Your dreams are valid even if no one else can see them yet. Keep going. It’s all still possible.”

At 19, Andy and I were already married, with a baby in our arms and the whole world ahead of us. Andy was serving in the army, and I was right there by his side, learning early that dreams aren’t always easy, but they are always worth fighting for.

We didn’t know where life would take us. We didn’t have it all mapped out.
But even then, without realising it, we were learning how to build something meaningful from whatever we had, love, resilience, and a spark of belief.

I’m Lotty, one half of the team behind Weebert’s World, and today, I’m writing not just to my younger self, but maybe to yours too.
Because one thing Andy and I have learned on this wild journey is that it’s never too late to dream.
And it’s never too late to build something extraordinary out of what you already have.

When we first started Weebert’s World, we didn’t have a detailed business plan or a 10-year strategy.
We had a kitchen table, a handful of scribbled ideas, and a few dusty scraps Andy had rescued from the world.
We had a belief, small but stubborn, that imagination, creativity, and permission to play are some of the greatest gifts you can give a child.

And that’s exactly where Weebert was born.
From scrap.
From story.
From spark.

Andy took a Cold War spy cameras, old opera glasses, and some bent copper wire, things most people would have thrown away, and turned them into a little robot full of heart.
I began to write. Tiny stories at first, filled with flying sheep, wild ideas, and adventures spun from the simplest places.

And suddenly, we had something much bigger than just sculptures or stories.
We had a world.

Weebert’s World isn’t just a brand.
It’s a message.
A rallying cry.
A reminder to every child (and every adult) that they already have everything they need to create magic.

If I could tell my 19-year-old self something else, it would be this:
“You don’t need permission from anyone else to start living your dream.
You don’t have to wait until you’re perfect.
You just have to begin.”

There is a myth that you have to have it all worked out before you take your first step.
That you need a perfect plan.
That you need certainty.
You don’t.
You just need the courage to move with what you have, right where you are.

And the beautiful truth is: even scraps can fly when you add imagination.
Even broken bits can build something magnificent when you believe they can.

Today, Weebert’s World is growing, slowly, surely, filled with hope.
We dream of a stop-motion animation that inspires children across the globe.
We imagine libraries filled with Weebert stories, classrooms buzzing with children building their own Berts from scrap.
We see children being given permission, to dream bigger, to play louder, to explore wider.

And none of it would be here if we had waited until we felt ready.
None of it would exist if we’d listened to the little voice that said, “It’s too late.”
Because it’s not.
It never is.

So today, dear friend reading this, I want to ask you:
What would you tell your 19-year-old self?
And what if you started telling yourself those words right now?

  • Tell yourself it’s okay to dream.

  • Tell yourself it’s okay to start.

  • Tell yourself it’s okay to believe even when the road ahead looks unclear.

Because dreams built from scrap still have wings.
Because imagination is never wasted.
Because someone, somewhere, is waiting for what only you can create.

🚀 Dream one size bigger.
🚀 Act one step braver.
🚀 Believe one spark brighter.

And remember:
You are not too late.
You are right on time.
And this world needs your dream more than you know.

We believe in you.
We’re walking this road too, scrap in our pockets, sparks in our hearts, and Weebert leading the way.

Love,
Lotty x
